Alannah Dair is a fine art student studying at the Queensland College of Arts in Brisbane. Her current work varies through many mediums but above all she favours oil painting and printmaking. She states ‘I am inspired by the female body, and this work I have created around the theme of ‘evolve’ is abut societal and cultural changes in relation to women’s rights and women’s issues. Being directly effected by endometriosis ( a condition that effects the female reproductive system) I aim to bring taboo topics surrounding the female body to the forefront of conversation. My work is influenced by artists such as Louise Bourgeois, Kiki Smith, Deborah Walker and Frida Kahlo to name a few.
