The festival encourages its musical counterparts; they will be vital in achieving the cohesion within the festival and acting as an intermission between theatrical showings and establishing the open and inviting environment of the festival.
There will be two main bands asked to perform as a part of the festivals launch, as well as to conclude each festival day. Eight solo or duo artists will be selected to perform throughout the day, with alternating time slots for the duration of the festival.
What we are looking for is something different, we encourage the use of equipment such as loop pedals, full band set ups, electronic instruments etc. Diversity is key when it comes to the selection of our performers so keep that in mind when you are preparing for an audition. Both established musicians and performers just starting out are encouraged to submit an audition application.
There will be a sound operator assisting musical performers during the festival. Basic equipment (Including four piece drum kit without cymbals) will be provided, however all performers must use their own leads and amps, and make sure they are tested and tagged as per our safety requirements.
Due to the nature of this festival it will be unpaid but you will be given a festival pass, advertising on both our Facebook page and website, and exposure to industry professionals.
There are 2 stages to the music application. First is an online submission, and second is an audition.
To apply, you will be required to provide details about yourself and answer a few questions. The requirements of the DIY Festival’s Music Application form are:
Artist name/s and/or Band name.
Bio for artist or Band.
Links to examples of work, online musical presence or previous gigs (if applicable).
Describe your Sound and how you/your group are different.
Where did you hear about this festival?
Unlike Theatre and Visual Art applications, you will not be required to submit an application fee.
When submitting your application, please ensure that everything is included in a single word document. Please feel welcome to use our [Music Online Submission Template]. Seriously, please use it.
