The SDE Festival committee will review all applications and choose 10 diverse visual artists to present a work. The artists will each receive the theme of the festival and will be required to create a work (or small body of works) that fits The DIY Festival's theme.
Our aim is to encourage artists to express themselves, their originality and diversity. Many forms of visual art will be on display at the festival representing a variety of styles and techniques. Diversity is key when it comes to the selection process, so keep that in mind when you are preparing your application. Your work may range from traditional style paintings to abstract sculpture works, or installation pieces. The public display will also allow audience members to immerse themselves in the art for the duration of their stay. It can be hands on if appropriate.
Our artwork guidelines are as follows:
Artwork must not exceed a depth of 1 metre, a length of 2 metres or a height of 2 metres.
1 work or a small body of works.
To ensure that all the applications we receive are serious, Visual Art applicants will be required to pay a $10 registration fee.
To apply, you will be required to provide details about yourself and answer a few questions. The requirements of the DIY Festival’s Visual Art Application form are:

200 words. Describe your artistic style.
200 words. Describe the inspiration/s for your work.
