It's time for another top-secret, behind-the-scenes, finger-licking-good edition of "Getting Up Close and Liminal with the Limbo Crew!"
Today, we’ve entered The Big Crew’s state-of-the-art head office (situated next to “The Hurling Pelican” Fish and Chip shop in a very up-market cardboard box conversion) to talk to Big Crew Boss Man and LIMBO director, Nevin Howell, to get all the nitty-gritty on the development of LIMBO. We sat down with Big Nev and tried to find out all the Ins and Outs of what directing LIMBO has really been like.
So Nevin, say hello!
My name is Nevin Howell and I’m a theatre artist that primarily directs, performs and AV designs.
And what do you want to be when you grow up?
I want to be making a comfortable living as a theatre artist. Or grow muscles and become a professional wrestler... The latter is less likely I think.
The cast, as we’ve been discovering, is full of some pretty funny people, but who do you think is the funniest?
I’d say Livvy. Her check-ins are a good time.
What do you do when you’re not doing theatre?
I’d very likely be hanging out with my beautiful girlfriend or catching up with some friends.
What made you want to redevelop LIMBO?
I want to continuously challenge myself to work with new people under new circumstances. That’s where I’ve seen improvements in myself, as an artist, happen most.
What sort of person is going to love this show?
If you like theatre that is genuine, atmospheric and minimal – you will enjoy it. Though I’d urge you to come along and challenge whatever it is you ‘love’ about theatre.
Conversely, who should not come see this show?
If you’re into pyrotechnics, you should not see this show… There are no pyrotechnics.
And there you have it, an off-the-cuff banter session with The Big Crew’s Boss man and director, Nevin Howell. We'd like to thank Nevin for taking time out his busy schedule to chat with us and we can't wait to hear from him again! And an extra special thanks to Isabeau Schubert for the stunningly awesome photography!
LIMBO will be performing from June 29 - July 1 and tickets are on sale now. For more information, including how to buy tickets, check out our Facebook event and at standupensemble.com/limbo. We can't wait to see you there!
